The Data Protection Officer advises on data protection issues, monitors compliance with data protection regulations and acts as a contact point for the State Data Protection Officer and as a confidential point of contact for data subjects. In the fulfilment of his duties, he is not subject to instructions and is bound to maintain confidentiality.

The Data Protection Officer's area is organisationally separate from the Data Protection Staff Unit.
